The environment and restaurant
Some staffs are friendly and helpful but there is one who is very rude
quiet location, one of aventino hotels - have stayed at san anselmo previously.
difficult to find, no restaurant around, far from everything
Price/value rate is excellent as is the location. Very close to centre of Rome, but very quiet.
We lived next door to this hotel for 15 years so we always stay in the area. This hotel is unique and can be appreciated by people who love being away from the chaos of central Rome. It's on the hill top, so if you don't like to walk up or down the hill you have to call a taxi. There are no shops nearby . This is the most beautiful part of Rome in which to stay, and that is the reward.
The location is beautiful--on a hill in a predominantly residential area. Quiet and lots of trees, a nice break from the chaos of Rome. The room was also very nice-good beds, clean and quiet for sleep. Loved being close to Testaccio neighborhood.
The staff was predominantly quite rude. I hate to say it, but it was very off-putting. The other issue--which didn't bother us--was that it is quite a hike to the Campo, Piazza Navona, Trastevere. Given the amount of pasta and wine we consumed, however, the walk was just what we needed!
Good rooms, good service, great breakfast, good advice from staff.
We were moved to Hotel Villa San Piu, which is just down the road from Hotel Aventino and part of the same group. Our initial room was rather small - as were the beds. When asked, they moved us to a much larger room (#295) with excellent, although very hard beds. Airco, bathroom, breakfast, general standing, gardens etc are very good. Free parking and free wifi included. The hotel(s) are located in the Aventino area which is very well placed for work but also for city trips. We can recommend.
Mattrasses are very hard.
Hotel Aventino was actually closed due to the holiday season, but we were up-graded to one of its sister hotels just around the corner, Hotel San Pio. This review is based on Hotel San Pio. Beautiful setting/gardens, friendly & helpful staff, free parking & wi-fi, walking distance to many of the attractions in Rome.
Tha staff was very polite, and helpful. Thre location is very good. There are two metro stations at ten minutes' walk, and several restaurants at a walking distance (fifteen minutes); yet, the location is very quiet, and peaceful. Otherwise everything was fine for a short stay to explore the art galleries and shopping of Rome, and to make a one-day trip by train to Florence, but the heating system of the hotel did not function. The room was constantly far too hot (28 degrees Celsius), and it was very difficult to sleep. I fell sick. Also, the plumbing in the hotel appears to be glogged. There was also a moldish sewege leakage on the bathroom ceiling. Needs to be fixed immeaditely.
The heating system could not be adjusted. The room was constantly 28 degrees Celsius, and far too hot for sleeping. The plumbing does not work. I fell sick because I could not sleep at night.
Not a major problem but it would have been nice to enjoy the warm weather with breakfast in the garden
A very friendly reception and help with any queries. A comfortable room with good facilities. The hotel was in a convenient position for visiting the centre of Rome. Was very impressed with the excellent breakfast provided which included a wide choice of foods each day. Will look forward to staying there again.
Excellent location in high class residential area. Small hotel with beautiful garden and situation. Good, free internet access.
Not a single English TV channel so difficult to keep up with news.
No wifi in the rooms, only reception. The rooms could do with a little more confort, such as a nice sofa/chair to relax. The bed is too hard to relax and the only chair is also unconfortable.
We had a lovely stay with Aventino. The staff & hotel were wonderful. Nice breakfast in a beautiful room with garden area. Fabulous views over the city. I took a photo through the 'keyhole' & didn't think it had worked until we got home & were able to view the photo's on a big screen.
Some people would find the distance from central Rome negative, but it has other benefits, plus there is always the transport. We walked EVERYWHERE & have the blisters to prove it! Even though it is close to Trastevere, where there are fabulous restaurants, we had trouble finding them (walking). Hind sight tells us we should have taken a taxi to these locations. But we did find some nice eating closeby.
